It’s a 1938 Chevrolet truck used by the residents of Lonely Dells to manage the ranch. The reason that Lee’s Ferry existed was to get travelers across the river. Since there wasn’t a Safeway within a hundred miles, they had to provide for themselves. After the bridge was built in 1929, the ferry was abandoned, but the ranch remained and pioneer families still worked the land. This crippled truck testifies to the hardships of living in this hostile environment.
