Mount Ord Agaves

The road between Phoenix and Payson cuts through the Mazatzal Range as it climbs to the pine covered Mogollon Rim. The highway crests the Mazatzals at the foot of Mount Ord. The Mount Ord on the Maricopa/Gila County border not the one in the White Mountains.

While exploring old mining sites with friends, I came across these Blue Agaves nestled in the shade of a pinion tree, high on the side of the mountain. The dappled light filtering through the tree caught my eye.
